Amy Friedman is a certified fitness instructor with over 10 years teaching experience, 9 formal certifications
and 300 active students. Her passion for fitness, wellness, self-care, physical and mental health has become her life's work,
her profession an extension of her personal life. She believes her teaching is a gift and delivers a positive message for a
healthier, joyful and more balanced way of life.
Yoga. Amy specializes in yoga and is well-known in the local area for her practice of "gentle yoga." Practice
of gentle yoga links one asana (pose) to the next through the pranayama (breath). This style creates fluidity of movement and
meditation in motion. She has studied and practiced the art of yoga for 15 years and has taught yoga for over 10. Her
certification includes 700 hours of yoga therapy. Her yoga schedule includes beginning, multi-level, pre-natal and
restorative classes. Additionally, Amy has a master certification in Reiki which centers on the work of healing through
energy. She is also educated in reflexology and acupressure. Namaste!
Senior Fitness. Amy possesses a specialized certification in senior fitness by the AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness
Association of America). She instructs over 150 seniors five days a week including classes such as multi-level and chair yoga, senior
strength training and senior aerobics. Seniors that attend her classes regularly range in age from 50 years of age
through 96 years of age. Proof that exercise prolongs life!
Pilates. As a natural extension to her passion for Yoga, Amy is a certified Mat Pilates instructor through
Power Pilates. Pilates, which centers on strength through the core postural muscles, is an excellent way to improve balance and support
for the spine. In 2002, Amy created Sculpt Pilates that incorporates free-weights, cardio and aerobic exercise into a
Pilates routine which increases the metabolic effect of the work-out. Strength, stretch and stabilize!
Cycle. Indoor cycling class instruction is lead using music, enthusiasm and motivation to coach students
through mock terrains designed to simulate outdoor bicycling. The act of cycling strengthens quadriceps and hamstrings along with work
on the back, hips and glutes. Amy is a certified indoor cycle trainer through Precision Cycle. Ride on!
More... Amy is certified in general fitness (through the AFAA), Turbo Kickboxing (which uses a series of
boxing-style punches and martial-arts-style kicks), Body Pump/Body Flow (which teaches the formatting of exercise to music), CPR
(cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and First Aid. She is also in the beginning studies of Ayurveda. Ayurveda is an ancient
